Liked the John L. Sullivan article, but you left out the best part.  Sully broke a pool cue over the back of a San Francisco entertainer named "Oofty Goofty".  He broke 2 of his vertebrae and left him crippled.  Oofty Goofty charged people to kick him, hit him with a cane, or hit him with a ball bat.  He claimed he felt no pain, until Mr. Sullivan got his money's worth.
